Imarda is proudly supporting the global initiative for renewable energy by tracking three Mercedes-Benz Citaro hydrogen fuel cell buses in Perth Western Australia as part of a global trial in 11 other cities around the world including Stuttgart, Hamburg, Luxembourg, Stockholm, London, Oporto, Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, Reykjavik, and San Jose.
The buses are part of a limited series of Mercedes-Benz Citaro fuel cell buses being manufactured in Mannheim, Germany by EvoBus for a series of International Trials. EvoBus is a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler. Ballard Power Systems is supplying the fuel cell engines for the buses. BP is supplying the hydrogen fuel for the trial, produced from their oil refinery at Kwinana.
The purpose of the trial is to determine the critical technical, environmental, economic, and social factors that need consideration in the introduction of hydrogen fuel cell buses.
The Perth trial is also structured to examine what Government and private sector systems are needed to support a hydrogen-based energy system. In addition, it will identify industry development opportunities for Western Australian and Australian industries.
Aim:
To reduce CO2 emissions of Perth’s diesel vehicles by encouraging owners and drivers to change their behavior.
Project Objectives:
The project involves the collection of data regarding driver behavior and activity; In particular focusing on unnecessary idling of the vehicle and the associated emissions. Imarda’s SmartTrack solution was selected by the Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation to provide real time data collection in relation to driver activity. The project will gather data to enable the Department of Environment to actively change driver behavior to measurably reduce CO2 emissions.
Imarda’s Fleet Management applications provide real-time vehicle location data accessible from any Internet connected PC.
Imarda's systems can be integrated into back office applications allowing complete and seamless use directly from source into existing office systems. Imarda has vast experience in the integration of tracking and communication systems into back-end scheduling and dispatch systems.
